This time, Fr. John and Danny have a conversation to explain why Genesis 3:14–19 is God’s first curse, an incantation that reveals the power of divine words to bless or to judge. The serpent is cursed irredeemably as the embodiment of evil, while the earth is cursed temporarily as punishment for Adam, linking its redemption to humanity’s future restoration. Adam and Eve themselves are not cursed, showing that though humanity suffers diminished glory, God’s judgment leaves room for redemption and hope.
