In our “Deep Dive” this time, Fr. John and Danny explore the recurring motif of trees in the stories of Abraham and the Patriarchs, where sacred groves, altars, and standing stones became places of worship and covenant. Though these practices resembled pagan rituals in form, they were fundamentally different in meaning, rooted in relationship with YHWH rather than magic. The symbolism of trees connects worship back to Eden, reminding us that God’s covenantal presence transforms familiar cultural symbols into expressions of divine grace.
