This time, Fr. John and Danny discuss Exodus 15:22–27 and how it describes Israel’s first major test after crossing the Red Sea: they encounter bitter, undrinkable water at Marah, revealing that although God has delivered them from Egypt, the chaos and spiritual wounds of Egypt still remain within them. The “tree” God shows Moses transforms the bitter water into sweet water and points back to the tree of life in Eden, while the Torah becomes a means through which God begins healing Israel’s interior moral and spiritual condition. The story reminds us that God often uses difficult circumstances to expose and heal what is within us, leading us through the wilderness toward the restoration and rest for which we were created.
